Part One - Grades

Check your Grades for Fall 2011!

By now, you should have already accessed your transcript and/or grades from last semester. If not, then this is the time to log on to MySFSU and check your grades. Below is a table which describes the most commonly recieved grades that a first-year student may receive along with explanations of what they represent.

Common Grades and what they represent
A Passing Grade Units are earned plus 4.0 grade points per unit earned
B Passing Grade Units are earned plus 3.0 grade points per unit earned
C Passing Grade Units are earned plus 2.0 grade points per unit earned
D Passing Grade Units are earned plus 1.0 grade point per unit earned
[see footnote about D grades]
F Faling Grade Earns 0 units and 0.0 grade points
CR Credit Units earned but does not affect GPA
NC No Credit Units not earned and does not affect GPA
RD Report Delayed Grade has not been submitted yet. Consult instructor.
WU Unauthorized Withdraw Student failed to complete course requirements and did not drop the course
W Withdraw Student dropped the course after the normal add/drop deadline
I Incomplete Course uncompleted with an opportunity to complete within one year after course grade was issued

Remedial Courses

If you see an asterisk (*) next to a class on your transcript, that means that the course is a remedial course and you do not earn units for that class nor does it affect your GPA - even if you get an "A" in either MATH 60 or 70, for instance.

Concerning "D" grades

"D" grades are not the most satisfactory grades to recieve. However, if you notice on your transcript or DARS, you still earned the units for that course. Therefore, a repeat of that course is NOT necessary, unless that course is a prerequisite for something else - for example, for your major or to meet your Written English Requirement.
