College of Extended Learning

The College of Extended Learning (CEL) at San Francisco State University offers a wide variety of continuing education courses and programs to prepare you for career advancement, career change, or personal growth. CEL offers nationally-acclaimed curricula and faculty; weekend, evening, and online courses; plus access to thousands of transferable degree-credit university classes through Open University.

Study Abroad and International Exchange Program

The Office of International Programs provides numerous opportunites for students to participate in study abroad programs in various parts of the world and for various lengths of time. A study abroad experience adds a new dimension to a student's education and helps develop analytical and critical thinking skills. SF State is affiliated with universities in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Ghana, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. Students can continue their education and earn credit toward their degrees while studying at one of SF State's associate universities overseas.

Open University

You can take regular university classes on a space-available basis through Open University, a program of the College of Extended Learning. No transcripts, lengthy applications, or other documentation are required. It's a way to try out a degree program to find out if it suits your educational aspirations.

Programs for Mature Learners
