Costs + Financial Aid

Because SF State is a publicly assisted university, its instructional tuition fees are much more affordable than private institutions. SF State takes pride in offering a high-quality education at affordable prices to students from all backgrounds. However, we understand it may be hard to meet the costs of a college education, and realize that more than three quarters of our students hold down a job while going to school. That's why the Office of Student Financial Aid works hard to ensure all eligible students apply for an claim all financial aid for which they are eligible. Based on federal and state regulations, our counselors will put together a financial aid package using all available resources including: grants, loans, and on-campus employment opportunities. Students also apply for private scholarships to cover additional educational costs.
