Associate Dean Emily Brizendine, Cal State East Bay
Dr. Brizendine is Associate Dean of the College of Education and Allied Studies and Professor of Educational Leadership at California State University, Hayward. Prior to her appointment as Associate Dean in 1996, she served as Assistant Dean (1995-96) and Department Chair of Educational Leadership (1993-95), the department in which she earned tenure and full professor rank. She joined the Cal State Hayward faculty in 1990 after serving for three years as Assistant Professor in the Department of Administration and Interdisciplinary Studies at San Francisco State University.   More...

Associate Dean David Hemphill, SFSU
Dr. Hemphill is Professor and Associate Dean in the College of Education at San Francisco State University. His teaching and research interests include cultural studies, educational equity issues, adult education, literacy, second language acquisition, critical theories, international education, and research methods. Prior to coming to the university he worked for ten years as a classroom teacher and program director in immigrant education programs in Oakland and San Francisco.  More...

Dr. Montemurro is the Interim Associate Dean in the College of Education and a faculty member in the Department of Special Education at San Jose State University. He was a classroom teacher and a teacher director in special education. Research and teaching areas include mental retardation, classroom observation and interaction analysis, classroom management, and research methodology.

Dean P. David Pearson, UC Berkeley
Dr. Pearson serves as Dean of the Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Berkeley, and as a faculty member in its Language and Literacy program. His current research, as a principal investigator for the Center for the Improvement of Early Reading Achievement (CIERA), focuses on issues of reading instruction and reading assessment policies and practices at all levels-local, state, and national.   More...


Dean Jacob Perea, CSU
Dr. Perea is the co-founder of the Step to College program at SFSU which is a high school intervention program that enrolls high school juniors and seniors as first time college freshpersons into the University to take courses on their campus that will meet graduation requirements once they are enrolled at SFSU.  To date the program has served over 5,000 students from inner city schools where the college going rate in many cases is nonexistent.  More...

David Stern
Dr. Stern has chaired the faculty committee that oversees undergraduate admissions to Berkeley since 2003, and he is also vice chair of the faculty committee that sets admissions policy for the entire University of California system. From 1995 to 1999 he served as director of the National Center for Research in Vocational Education, based at Berkeley's Graduate School of Education. From 1993 to 1995 he was principal administrator in the Center for Educational Research and Innovation at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris.  More...
