Nadine M. Lambert, Ph.D. is Professor in the Cognition and Development area in the Graduate School of Education at the University of California at Berkeley, where she has been on the faculty since 1964.  Early in her career she was a member of a team of investigators for the California State Department of Education charged with establishing and evaluating an array of programs for children with educational handicaps, including those who were diagnosed as hyperactive, resulting in the first state legislation supporting educational programs for children with learning and behavior disorders.  At Berkeley she founded the School Psychology Program that received NIMH support for 18 years as a model program to prepare professional school psychologists.  Her research programs on the mental health problems of the school-age population resulted in the publication of measures of adaptive behavior, attention deficit disorder, and teacher, peer, and self ratings of effective school functioning.  She has been the principal investigator on a 30-year prospective longitudinal investigation of ADHD children and their classroom age-mates.  This research established the prevalence of hyperactivity and treatment interventions, and its longitudinal phase resulted in documenting the life histories of these community-based samples of participants from childhood into early adulthood.  Professor Lambert is a Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology, and a licensed psychologist.  In 1999, she was honored by the American Psychological Association with the award for Distinguished Contributions for Applications of Psychology to Education and Training.
