Thoughts...
At SF State, the classroom provides the venue for innovative teaching ideas, and provides a link with the scientific research community. I expect students to come out of my classes able to think critically, and to appreciate the contributions of scientific research to our understanding of biology. The student experience in the research lab adds to this base, and students leave SF State as critical and independent thinkers. The lab provides a unique experience for students, where they learn to observe biology close up, to hypothesize, to analyze data and to be strong communicators, both verbally and in written form.
