Lacking cohesion
In a July 13 San Francisco Chronicle article, Professor of Communication Studies Joseph Tuman discussed the current state of the California Republican Party. Tuman said that state Republicans mirrored the national GOP's inability to find one consistent voice. "The Republican Party nationally is very much influenced" by the ultra-conservative base, particularly when it comes to social issues, Tuman said. "They dominate the national platform ... instead of saying good people can differ."
