Practice emergency drill completed

April 9, 2008 -- 12:10 p.m.: The drill simulating the response in the event of an emergency has been completed. The Student Services Building is now open. SF State thanks the campus community for its participation and cooperation.

10 a.m.: The University is currently conducting a drill that simulates our response in the event of a real emergency. There is NO actual emergency at San Francisco State University at this time. We are conducting a test of our emergency notification system.

The emergency exercise is taking place at the Student Services Building and is a simulation of an active shooter on campus. When you hear the sound of gunshots the drill has commenced. The sound of a bullhorn will signal the end of the drill. The campus community is urged to remain calm. University staff responsible for responding to actual incidents of this type are currently rehearsing and practicing their roles. The simulation exercise began at 10 a.m. and is expected to last about an hour. The exercise is part of Awareness Week, which runs through April 11.
