Design and Industry
Professor of Design and Industry Martin Linder was the keynote speaker at the International Social Innovation Conference at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea on Nov. 23. Linder also advised three workshops centered on the application of the Industrial Design Outreach Project’s methods targeting Korean teenage education, healthcare and technology.

Recreation, Parks, and Tourism
Assistant Professor of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Jackson Wilson was invited to serve as an international scholar at the National Taiwan Sports University for 10 days in November. During that time, Wilson gave a public lecture about the benefits of recreating in natural environments and helped lead a successful international educational expedition with students and faculty up Taiwan’s second tallest mountain, Mt. Snow. At the Eighth Annual Asian Association for Experiential Education Conference in Taipei he presented research on gender, conscious competence and skill development in outdoor education, and gave a workshop on teaching Situational Leadership Theory through experiential learning.

Women and Gender Studies, Political Science, Turkish Studies
Assistant Professor of Women and Gender Studies Evren Savci, Associate Professor of Political Science Nicole Watts and Turkish Studies Lecturer David Selim Sayers participated in "The Others Mobilized: Gezi and the Present Moment in Turkey," a panel discussion at UC Davis on Nov. 14. The panelists explored the multiple facets of the summer protests in Gezi Park, the historical relationship of the Gezi Park area to the Armenian community, the Kurdish and LGBT movements, and the broad possibilities, individually and collectively, of Turkey's pluralistic movements of resistance.
