SAN FRANCISCO, September 26, 2002…Noted actor Danny Glover, who attended San Francisco State University in the late 1960s, will deliver the keynote speech at the inaugural Costco Scholarship Breakfast on Oct. 10 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Koret Health and Recreation Center on the University of San Francisco campus. The breakfast will support the Costco Scholarship Fund, which was created to help underrepresented students attend and graduate from either San Francisco State University or the University of San Francisco. Glover, who studied economics and political science while he attended SFSU, is perhaps best known for his role as Detective Roger Murtaugh in the "Lethal Weapon" series of movies. His resume consists of 33 movies, including "The Color Purple," "Places in the Heart" and "Silverado." In addition to his extensive community work, Glover currently serves as a Goodwill ambassador in the United Nations Development Program, frequently speaking to school age children about the importance of education. "Diversity in education enriches not only the person getting the scholarship but also the lives of everyone on campus and in the community," said Costco Wholesale President and CEO Jim Sinegal.
