Department of Cinema Facilities Manager Warren Haack's film, Santiago es Santiago, about the people and culture of Santiago de Cuba was screened by the Coastside Film Society on April 19 in Half Moon Bay.

Ethnic Studies
Dean of the College of Ethnic Studies Kenneth Monteiro and his partner Perry Lang have been named grand marshals for the 2013 San Francisco Pride Parade in recognition for their work in the LGBT community.

Health Education
Professor of Health Education Erik Peper presented the invited paper, "Biofeedback approaches to managing cancer," at the 2013 Northern California Regional Meeting of the Biofeedback Society of California in San Rafael on April 27.

Philosophy
Professor Emeritus of Philosophy Arthur Bierman gave a seminar on April 10 at the University of Rome, Sapienza on a form of conceptual logic that systematizes coherence and inferential relations between concepts rather than truth and inferential relations between statements. He has been developing this conceptual logic since 1959 and was supported by Rome University's philosophy department.

Management
Professor of Management Murray Silverman's essay, "Protecting Our Oceans: Sustainability at Holland America Lines," placed third in the oikos International Case Writing Competition, which aims to promote the development of new high quality case studies in the field of sustainability management, strategy and social entrepreneurship. This is Silverman's second top-three finish in the competition.

Marketing
Professor Emeritus of Marketing Bill Perttula presented a three-day seminar on customer relationship management to students in the IAE Graduate School of Management at the Aix-Marseille University in Aix-En-Provence, France on April 25-27.
