Lionel Chan is the former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Saint Mary's College in Moraga, California. He also served as Chief Information/Technology Officer at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco.
His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in mathematics, J.D. in law (both from UC Berkeley), Ed.M. (Harvard Graduate School of Education; Administration, Planning, and Social Policy; and Technology in Education) and a C.P.A. (Hawaii), earned while consulting for PriceWaterhouseCoopers (formerly Coopers & Lybrand) in San Francisco.
He teaches graduate courses at the University of California, Berkeley (Graduate School of Education), and California State University, East Bay (College of Business and Economics). His two most recent publications are Budgeting Red Flags, American School Board Journal, May 2004, and Preventing Problems: The best defense for your information system is good care and continued care, American School Board Journal, September 2004.
He is the Buddhist Chaplain at the Juvenile Hall of San Francisco, and he teaches meditation classes in the San Francisco County Jail and the Tenderloin neighborhood.
