Dr. Cynthia Hall Ranii is in her eighth year of service to the District.  As Superintendent she works collaboratively with the Board of Trustees and the staff to deliver the highest quality education to every student in the District.  Ranii, 57, has worked in education for 27 years in a variety of district and campus positions. She began her career teaching reading and then taught English for three years in the Peace Corps in Iran.  She served as the coordinator of refugee education in the Rancho Santiago Community College District before joining the Fullerton Joint Union High School District in 1984.  There she served in the district office as Special Projects Coordinator, Director of Instructional Services, and Director of Grants Development.  She then was appointed principal and served as principal at Sonora High School for three years and at Fullerton Union High School for two years.

As an educator, Dr. Ranii places the highest value upon academic excellence and believes that mutual respect, honesty, integrity, caring, and creativity build the foundation of a positive educational environment.  She focuses great effort on building and maintaining healthy communication links within the District and with parents and the community.

Ranii earned a bachelor's degree in Near Eastern Languages from the University of California, Berkeley and a master's degree in Asian Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.  Her doctorate in education is from the University of Southern California.  A native of Fullerton, California, Ranii is single with two adult children. Daughter Melina, a Recruitment Manager for Trader Joe's lives in San Dimas.  She is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles with a major in Political Science.  Dr. Ranii's son Anthony is a sixth year teacher in the Sunnyvale Elementary School District.  He, his wife Lindsay and son, AJ, live in San Jose.  He teaches fifth grade at Fairwood School.  Anthony is a graduate of Allegheny College in Pennsylvania where he majored in English.
