International Education Week includes Japanese tea ceremony, Latin American clothing parade SAN FRANCISCO, November 6, 2006 -- San Francisco State University will join college campuses throughout the country Nov. 13-17 in celebrating the seventh annual International Education Week with a variety of workshops, lectures, film screenings, art exhibitions and ceremonies to promote the benefits of studying global cultures at home and overseas. All SF State events will take place on campus, located at 1600 Holloway Ave. (at 19th Avenue) in San Francisco. All events are free unless noted otherwise. International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. departments of State and Education. It promotes programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study and learn in the United States. SF State is the only master's-level public university serving the counties of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin. The University enrolls about 29,000 students each year and graduates about 7,000 annually. With nationally acclaimed programs in a range of fields -- from creative writing, cinema and biology to history, broadcast and electronic communication arts, theatre arts and ethnic studies -- the University’s more than 150,000 graduates have contributed to the economic, cultural and civic fabric of San Francisco and beyond.
