GREAT VISUALS: Hundreds of first-time freshmen say goodbye to their families as they meet new friends and carry boxes, computers, stereos, microwaves and blacklights into their rooms WHAT: The University houses more than 2,200 students on campus. A total of 850 freshmen under age 20 live in Mary Ward and Mary Park halls. SF State also has three modern, apartment-style residence halls. The Towers at Centennial Square houses 600 freshmen under 20 years old. The Village at Centennial Square, with 760 beds, is available to freshmen ages 20 and 21 as well as sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students under age 22. The Science and Technology Theme Community, with 100 beds, is available to freshmen under age 20 with majors in science- or technology-related fields. University Park South, comprised of SF State-owned apartments in The Villas Parkmerced development, houses about 70 juniors, seniors and graduate students age 22 and up. WHO: The first 250 students, along with as many as 400 family members, will take part in an early orientation program called Welcome Home and will move in Wednesday, Aug. 23. About 1,200 students are expected move in to The Towers and Mary Ward and Mary Park halls on Friday, Aug. 25. About 820 students are expected to move in to The Village at Centennial Square and University Park South on Saturday, Aug. 26.
