Elisabeth 's Voice

How have increased tuition fees impacted you and your family?:
The increased tuition fees have honestly had little to no affect on me. I am a college student still living at home and I must say, living at home has its many benefits. You get wonderful home cooked meals, in some cases your own room, and it¿s all provided free of charge. I realize that student debt is becoming a prevalent problem in America, but since I am still living with my parents and they handle all my finances, I have not truly been impacted by this problem. The fact that I live at home is not the only reason increased tuition fees have not affected me. I am also very fortunate to have family that helps pay for my brothers and my tuition. Without them it would be difficult, especially because my brother attends a private school and has a much higher tuition than me. For those who are unable to live at home or choose not to, try to apply for a scholarship or grant. My brother did so, and he is earning more than half of his tuition in grant money. I see how increased tuition fees can be difficult, but it does not need to be if you use the resources around you designed to help you financially. Student debt is something that can be avoided if you play it smart and realize that obtaining help from others is necessary and a good thing.

What are you studying at SF State and what do you hope to do once you graduate?:
I am undeclared and I don't know what I am going to do once I graduate.
