What percentage of the University’s budget comes from the State general fund?

For the 2009-10 academic year, the University received $128.7 million in general fund support out of a total budget of just over $270 million; approximately 48 percent of University support comes from the State’s general fund. The remainder comes from student fees, gifts, grants and contracts. This represents a dramatic decrease in state support in one year.

Proposal Title:     Strengthening the University

Brief Description of Proposal:

I hereby propose:

1. Eliminating one associate dean position in the College of Education.
2. Restructuring the College of Education into a unit solely dedicated to graduate studies that reduces WTUs and SFRs while increasing funding.
3. Utilizing video-conferencing techniques to reduce the cost of school supervision.
4. Promoting university and COE external grant funding.
5. Eliminating university sabbaticals and FERP programs.
6. Mandating all university employees take off one week of unpaid vacation a year (spring break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.)
