Proposal Title: Return to the 12-unit workload

Units affected:
The six colleges that have been able to reduce the workload for faculty to 9 units per semester (instead of 12 WTUs). College of Creative Arts and College of Education faculty currently teach 12 units per semester.
Impacted Degrees/Courses:
Brief Description of Proposal:
The 3 units not required for teaching are supposed to be spent in curriculum development, research or scholarship. If the 9-unit colleges returned for a limited, specified time period - - 2 years? -- to a 12-unit TEACHING load, the problem of not being able to hold enough courses would be solved.
