For the 2009-10 academic year, the University received $128.7 million in general fund support out of a total budget of just over $270 million; approximately 48 percent of University support comes from the State’s general fund. The remainder comes from student fees, gifts, grants and contracts. This represents a dramatic decrease in state support in one year.

Proposal Title:     Transportation Savings Plan / Sustainable Communities

Anticipated Savings/Revenue:  1 billion / air pollution reduction

Brief Description of Proposal:

Propose new sites, satelitte campus development in the daly city U.Corp offices, and BVHP area, Treasure Island Development, Stonestown Site, and co-development of recreation and student facilities through a new YMCA/SFSU community development plan for a new athletic facility jointly adjacent to stonestown, with open space and connection to campus and lake merced. Included in this proposal is transit improvement projects to reduce traffic and parking impacts on neighboring communities through new transit routing in the western side of SF, along sunset blvd. and direct connection to Daly City or Colma station. Federal Title 5 funding will be required however significant environmental impacts will be avoided in addressing the future growth plans through adequate transit planning for access to satelitte campus and internet courses online by the SFSU/CSU departments.
