A Closer Look: 'Romeo and Juliet'

Photo of Alexander Aquino as Romeo and Kristina Olson as Juliet

Romeo (Alexander Aquino) embraces Juliet (Kristina Olson) in a scene from the Theatre Arts Department's production of "Romeo and Juliet." Directed by Roy Conboy, chair of theatre arts, the free performance taps the talents of some of the department's most gifted performance students, taking the stage only a few weeks before many of them graduate. Conboy's adaptation uses many traditional theatrical devices such as masks, swords and dance. Remaining performances take place in the Studio Theatre of the Creative Arts building at 8 p.m. May 5-7, 11-14. For details, call (415) 338-1341.
