Government and Community Relations
The Office of Government and Community Relations is responsible
for representing San Francisco State University to the United States Congress,
the California Legislature and local city government. Our office monitors
legislation at all levels of government and participates in public policy
development. Working with SF State administrators, faculty, staff and
students, we work to influence legislation, regulations and budgetary
decisions concerning higher education. We coordinate outreach and advocacy
efforts on a number of issues related San Francisco State University and
higher education in general, such as: student financial aid, community
service learning, educational partnerships, teacher preparation, and technology.
The Office of Government and Community Relations conducts community relations
and civic engagement efforts targeted to the neighborhoods surrounding
the university and connecting to the larger San Francisco Bay Area.
The office also conducts outreach to K-12 school districts and acts as
a liaison between educational institutions throughout the Bay Area.
