Confucius Institute at San Francisco State University Celebrating “Chinese Culture Day”

       November 18, 2014. Confucius Institute at San Francisco State University successfully hosted “Chinese Culture Day” celebrations as part of “2014 International Education Week” at Cesar Chavez Student Center. Dr. Jose Galvan, Associate Vice President of San Francisco State University, Education Counselor Jun Yang from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in San Francisco, and the Confucius Institute team welcomed over 400 teachers and students from the University and local schools to celebrate this special event on campus.
       The 2014 “Chinese Culture Day” was divided into two parts, opening ceremony with cultural performance and Chinese cultural exhibitions with game Carnival. Professor Jiaxin Xie, director of CISFSU hosted the opening ceremony and welcomed the audience on behalf of the Confucius Institute. AVP Jose Galvan, Education Counselor Jun yang and Director of Office of International Programs Hildy Heath all delivered welcome remarks and highly praised the efforts by Confucius Institute to promote Chinese language and culture programs on campus and beyond. The distinguished guests jointed in the ribbon-cutting to kick off the exciting cultural performance. With vivid lion dance, exotic ethnic dances, elegant Guqin play, mysterious Sichuan Opera changing faces and traditional magic show, the audiences were all enchanted by the fantastic Chinese culture.
       The Carnival part provided a different experience for the audiences. With painting and calligraphy exhibitions, winning artworks from Chinese Bridge Cup Contest exhibitions, clipboards from China-Visit summer campers, students witnessed real Chinese heritage from a colorful and authentic aspects. The games also brought great fun to the participants. Paper cutting, Chinese Knot knitting, panda painting, Ping-Pong ball transporting, shuttlecock tossing and pen tossing fascinate every student involved. They eagerly engaged in all the games and left with a nice surprise from Confucius Institute.
       All teachers and chaperones who guided the students expressed heartfelt thanks to Confucius Institute. They expected to participate more events held by CISFSU in the future. “Chinese Culture Day” has really turned into a grand cultural feast for the local students and communities.

旧金山州立大学孔院成功举办“2014中国文化日”嘉年华

        2014年11月18日,旧金山州立大学孔子学院在本校学生活动中心剧场举办了2014年校园国际教育周之“中国文化日”庆典活动。中国驻旧金山总领事馆教育参赞杨军,旧金山州立大学副校长Jose Galvan,孔院中外方院长,以及来自州大的师生、北加州十余所中小学的校长、师生、家长及志愿者共四百余人参加此次文化活动。         本次“中国文化日”分为演出和中国文化活动两个部分。州大孔子学院院长谢家新主持开幕式,欢迎远道而来的年轻朋友,赞许北加州地区广大学生学习中文和中国文化的热情。州大副校长Jose Galvan、杨军参赞和国际教育部主任Hildy Heath分别致辞,高度赞扬了孔子学院对推广中文教学和促进中美文化交流所作出的努力和贡献,共祝孔子学院取得更大成绩。嘉宾们应邀上台为文化日庆典活动剪彩,迎来了西塞那孔子课堂活灵活现的舞狮表演。整台节目充满中国传统文化气息,有小女孩表演的民族舞蹈、新疆舞蹈,中国访问学者演奏的古琴,还有川剧变脸和传统魔术,迎来台下孩子们的欢呼声。整场演出掌声阵阵,喜气洋洋,充满节日气氛。

        带着热情和好奇,学生们又来到了多间张灯结彩的中国传统文化展览及游戏活动室。展览区展示了艺术家的书法作品、旧金山地区汉语桥杯绘画比赛优胜作品、高中生夏令营活动摄影展及文化用品展。在活动室里,既有孩子们认真地学习剪纸、编中国结和画大熊猫等中国传统文化的体验活动,也有孩子们兴奋地参与夹乒乓球、投羽毛球及中国特色“投壶”等游戏活动。每个孩子脸上都洋溢着笑容,他们离开时更有惊喜,每个人赢得了一份来自孔院的中国文化小礼物。
        活动结束后,很多学校的教师纷纷发来感谢信说孩子们今天都很开心,他们不仅爱上了中国文化表演,也对自己今天活动创作的作品爱不释手,并开心地带回去与家人分享。旧金山州大“中国文化日”已经变成了当地孩子们零距离快乐体验中国文化的“嘉年华”!
