The American Chamber Players will perform Nov. 16 as part of the Morrison Artists Series.

The Morrison Artists Series in the College of Creative Arts has brought chamber music to SF State for free Sunday concerts since 1955. Under the direction of Creative Director Saul Gropman, the Morrison Artists Series features six free concerts per year.

"The Morrison Artists Series is an intimate way to experience the power of this most democratic of musical forms," College of Creative Arts Dean Kurt Daw said. "We live in a time when it is hard to find high-quality leisure options that don’t cost an arm and a leg. The Morrison Series makes it possible for SF State to deliver on the promise to be a real source of transformation in the lives of our students by making extraordinary music available to everyone."

The Morrison Artists Series is a program of the May Treat Morrison Chamber Music Center, which was established in 1955 to make music accessible to the public at large. The Morrison Chamber Music Center also holds a teaching partnership with San Francisco Performances and established a residency for the Alexander String Quartet in 1989. All provide education and access to chamber music.

The latest installment of the Morrison Artists Series features the American Chamber Players Nov. 16 at 3 p.m. in McKenna Theatre, Creative Arts building. The acclaimed ensemble is led by National Public Radio commentator and violinist Miles Hoffman, and combines mixed strings, flute and piano in works by Mozart, Schoenfield, Bridge, Ginastera and Fauré. Additional concerts in this year's schedule are:
