Media Advisory: Third annual CSU Super Sunday February 17
California State University officials will visit 30 local African American churches to encourage and assist with student applications and enrollment
WHAT: Third Annual California State University Super Sunday outreach to African American church congregations. CSU officials will fan out to 30 Bay Area African American churches in an effort to encourage and secure more African American student applications and enrollment. Following the Sunday services, at which CSU officials will speak, outreach staff and church education counselors will provide information about college applications and financial aid. The statewide effort is expected to reach more than 80,000 congregants this year.
Efforts over the past two years have been successful. In Fall 2007 African American enrollment increased by 6.5 percent at CSU campuses.
WHO: CSU presidents, provosts, faculty and outreach professionals from CSU campuses including San Francisco State University and California State University East Bay
WHEN: Sunday morning, February 17

- Providence Baptist Church, 1601 McKinnon St., San Francisco. San Francisco State President Robert A. Corrigan will speak at both the 8 and 10 a.m. services.
- Grace Tabernacle, 1121 Oakdale, San Francisco, 10:30 a.m.
- Ingleside Presbyterian Church, 1345 Ocean Ave., San Francisco, 10:30 a.m.
- City of Refuge UCC, 1025 Howard St., San Francisco, 1 p.m.
- Third Baptist Church, 1399 McAllister St., San Francisco, 10 a.m.
