"MINORITY ACCESS TO RESEARCH CAREERS" (MARC)

For JUNIORS/SENIORS in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry,
Physics, Math, Computer Science and Engineering

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents

Applicant Profiles are being accepted for 2008-2009

Application Deadline is March 14, 2008

Program begins: June 1, 2008


Purpose: To prepare students from underrepresented groups (African-American, Native American, Hispanic American and Pacific Islanders) for biomedical careers by providing academic support and a stimulating research experience. The goal of the MARC program is to prepare each participant for entrance into a competitive graduate program and successful completion of a Ph.D. in the biomedical or physical sciences.

*Junior is defined as being 2 (two) years from graduation.
*Senior is defined as being 1 (one) year from graduation.


The application involves multiple steps:

SEO Fellowship Application Procedure. Submit items A-E directly to SEO:
A) Applicant Profile form (Click to download)
B) A 1-2 page "Statement of Purpose" describing your career goals and interests
C) Unofficial copies of your transcript(s)
D) 2-3 letters of recommendation from science faculty that address:
1. Your potential for graduate study
2. Your potential for a career in basic biomedical science
(Have your mentors/advisors mail their letters of recommendation directly to us.)
E) All Science Transcript Form (Click to download)
