Athletics benefit brings comedians to campus

Laraine NewmanLaugh the night away as comedians Ronnie Schell (played Duke on the TV show Gomer Pyle, USMC), Laraine Newman (Saturday Night Live alumna, pictured left), Peter Marshall (former Hollywood Squares host), Will Durst (political satirist, pictured below right), Jack Riley (comedian with many sitcom appearances including Rugrats, The Drew Carey Show and The Bob Newhart Show) and Steve Landesburg (played Detective Dietrich on Barney Miller) roll out the jokes Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, during the annual Veterans of Comedy Wars VI: A North Beach Reunion at San Francisco State University's McKenna Theater. Musical trio The Limeliters will also perform.

Will DurstThe annual benefit sponsored by the Athletics Department for its scholarship program begins at 8 p.m. each night. Tickets range from $30 to $60 and can be reserved by calling (415) 405-0556 or (415) 338-2218. Tickets will also be available at the McKenna Theater box office beginning at 7 p.m. each night. In addition, there is a Friday night post-event reception and tickets are $50 a person.
