Return to SFSU Remembers schedule of events

Two students with candlesHolding candles flickering in the wind, more than 500 members of the campus community joined together Wednesday evening for a candlelight vigil, ending a day of mourning and remembrance surrounding Sept. 11.

Proceeding from the residence halls, the throng of people meandered through campus in a solemn walk before congregating on Malcolm X Plaza. About two dozen students and campus community members shared personal thoughts about Sept. 11 -- everything from honoring the victims and rescue workers to letting peace start from within each person. There were impromptu speeches about patriotism, solidarity and tolerance for others.

The groups that helped organize the vigil included Associated Students, Student Center Governing Board, Housing and Residential Services, The Village at Centennial Square, Dining Services and Department of Public Safety.
