Goals:

* Discuss the role of language and literacy in the health context, and the barriers that immigrants with limited English proficiency and/or low literacy face
* Showcase local partnerships in education, research, and clinical practice that aim to address language, literacy and health outcomes for immigrant groups
* Promote networking and partnerships among participants
* Identify action steps for change in the Bay Area


Target Audience:

* Clinicians and researchers whose work addresses health disparities among immigrant communities
* University faculty, administrators, and student alumni in health education and/or adult ESOL education
* Adult ESOL program directors, educators, and learners
* Community-based organizations who work in health, literacy, or education
