Program Purpose
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the German national agency for the support of international academic cooperation. It offers programs and funding for students, faculty, researchers and others in higher education, represents the German higher education system abroad, and promote Germany as an academic and research destination.
Program Description
Under the DAAD Study and Internship Program, participants conduct one semester of study at one of the German Universities of Applied Sciences, followed by a six-month internship in a company or research institute in Germany. Tuition fees are waived and student receives living expense and travel stipends.
Benefits
Scholarships are granted for one semester. Recipients are awarded a monthly stipend of approximately €700 to cover living expenses, including a monthly contribution to cover health and accident liability insurance. They also receive up to €800 as a contribution to travel expenses.
Applicant Profile
Applicants must be in engineering, science, life sciences, business, management, economics, architecture, art, design, journalism, or social work and have a well defined study and internship proposal.
Eligibility
Sophomores and juniors under age 32 who are enrolled in a U.S. or Canadian college.
Citizenship
U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Foreign nationals are eligible if they have been full-time students at a U.S. or Canadian university for more than one year at the time of application and will return to complete a bachelor's degree.
Deadline
