Program Description
APSA provides up to twelve fellowships each year for underrepresented students entering doctoral programs in political science who show promise to contribute to teaching and research in the field.
Benefits
Each fellow receives a $4,000 fellowship disbursed in two $2,000 payments: one at the end of first graduate year, and one at the end of second year. Additional applicants who do not receive funding may be recognized and recommended for admission to and financial support from graduate political science programs.
Selection Criteria
Awards are based on undergraduate course work, GPA, extracurricular activities, GRE scores, and faculty recommendations.
Eligibility
Graduating seniors entering Ph.D. programs in political science. Must demonstrate financial need and be members of one of the following underrepresented groups: African American, Asian Pacific American, Latino/Latina, or Native American.
Citizenship
U.S. citizens only.
Deadline
Usually early October.
