Program Purpose

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the German national agency for the support of international academic cooperation. It offers programs and funding for students, faculty, researchers and others in higher education, represents the German higher education system abroad, and promote Germany as an academic and research destination.

RISE professional placements provide students the opportunity to live and work in an international context, to gain confidence in their practical and professional skills, and to improve their German. The internship is a source of cultural and professional enrichment for the interns and their host companies.

Program Description

The RISE Professional Program places interns with German companies in biology, chemistry, engineering, geology and physics. German language requirements depend on the nature of the internship. Some require at least an intermediate level of German language skills while others require none at all.

Travel expenses, health insurance, and a monthly stipend for internships, generally in the summer, of 6 weeks – 6 months. For those who plan to attend a language course in Germany, DAAD covers 80 % of course-fees.

Application Process

Registering with the RISE professional program allows applicants to access the internship offers submitted by German companies.
