Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement
SF State is transitioning away from the JEPET exam to a more holistic Writing Across the Curriculum/Writing In Disciplines (WAC/WID) approach to the graduation writing requirement. WAC/WID will allow students to complete their writing requirements in their own field of study, thereby learning the writing conventions of their chosen profession. CARP is committed to supporting this transition by hiring writing tutors with a broad spectrum of academic backgrounds, maintaining relationships with GWAR faculty members and familiarizing ourselves with GWAR course requirements in each discipline, and providing supplementary in-class and evening workshops that specifically target the GWAR curriculum.
