Eligibility: A nonresident tuition fee paying student who drops units on or before the published drop date shall be entitled to a pro-rata refund of applicable tuition less a non-refundable administrative fee of $20. The pro-rata refund is determined on the basis of the drop date that results in a lower non resident tuition fee charge and the length of the session is calculated from the first day of instruction through the final exams and excludes any breaks of five days or more.

Calculation: Students will receive a pro-rata refund less a non-refundable administrative fee of $20. Refund checks are processed and forwarded to the student's address within 2 - 3 weeks from published drop date. A refund request form is not required unless students want to expedite the refund process. Allow 2 - 3 weeks from the date the refund request form is received and stamped by the Bursar's Office for checks to be processed.

Example 1

A graduate international student enrolls for 12 units in session R2, paying $3,369 Tuition Fee, $4,464 (12 units x $372) Nonresident Tuition Fee, and $181 Campus Fees (total fees paid: $8,014). The student drops a 3-unit course in session R2 (3 units x $372 = $1,116) 15 days into the 54-day session. The student was enrolled for 27.8% of the 3-unit course and receives a refund of 72.2% of the nonresident tuition fee for the 3 units, $785.75 ($805.75 less $20 non-refundable administrative fee).
