WGS 766 : Gender and Modernity in the Muslim and Arab Worlds

Prerequisites: WGS 700 or consent of instructor.
Description: Investigates implications of the project of modernity/modernization for gender and sexuality in the Muslim and Arab worlds. By interrogating dichotomies that oppose tradition to modernity, examines the multifacited ways in which gender identities are produced historically.
