The
Vista
Room and its supporting facilities are teaching/learning laboratories
providing
learning experiences for students enrolled in foodservice management
courses
for Hospitality Management, Dietetics, and Family & Consumer
Sciences.

Program
Activities
The
Vista Room functions as a restaurant for
fine dining, acclaimed for its exquisite cuisine and service. The
facility is
open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:45 am to 1:30 pm. Seating
is from
Reservations

The
Vista Room requires pre-paid reservations and has a
cancellation notice of 24 hours. Rescheduling of paid and block ticket
reservations
will be honored prior to this 24 hour period at no cost to the guest. Guests forfeit the cost of
lunches
(individual or reserved blocks) if not rescheduled. If
you are using block tickets, reservations
must still be made prior to
Large
Luncheon Groups
(n=15)
For
large groups, payment in full has to be
made two weeks in advance of the event. The
Vista Room may be able to accommodate large group events later than
In
order to keep a safe workflow for
students, the Vista Room cannot accommodate any change of table
rearrangement
after your luncheon begins.
The
Vista Room cannot accommodate additional
guests after the luncheon starts, as student managers are not permitted
to
handle cash. To add
extra guests, please
call 405-3529 prior to
Block
tickets cannot
be used for a one-time event which uses the whole room. To schedule the
whole
room for a luncheon event, the cost is $910.00. Other guests will not
be
scheduled if you reserve the whole room.
Please

to make special arrangements. Menu
selection and final number in your
party is due one week prior to event.
Cancellation
of a large group reservation must be made two
weeks before the event for a full refund.
Catering/Reception
and Special Group Events
- The Vista Room handles a minimal number of special
receptions and events as part of the students' laboratory experience
consistent
with the course content as planned by the faculty. The cost of a
three-hour
reception depends on the menu and required staff to be arranged between
the
laboratory coordinator and the event representative.
Students
who are currently enrolled in specific courses may conduct special
projects as
part of course requirements or application of knowledge to further
enhance
education acquired in the program. The use of the facilities to prepare
and
serve food may be possible only under the supervision of the SFSU
staff/faculty
at the Vista Room and upon the approval of faculty and chairs of the
departments of Hospitality Management and Consumer and Family
Studies/Dietetics.
Staffing
The
Vista
Room is staffed by students enrolled in Foods, Production and Service;
Restaurant
Management; and Management of Quantity Food Purchasing and Production. SFSU supervising
staff/faculty must be present
at the Vista Room and/or the Quantity Food Production Laboratory if
both or
either of these facilities is used at special events.
Management
The
Vista
Room is managed by the faculty in the above courses, the Chair of the
Department of Hospitality Management and Chair of the Department
Consumer &
Family Studies/Dietetics.
The
Vista
Room and the Quantity Food Production Laboratory are currently not
available for
rent or contract by groups outside the HM and CFS/D departments.
