Residence Halls and Apartments:

The University has two residence halls: Mary Ward and Mary Park , which can accommodate over 800 students, and one International Community, which accommodates an additional 100 students. Finally, there is the Residence Apartments, where 540 juniors, seniors and graduate students reside.

Residence Halls

Residents in Mary Ward or Mary Park Halls share a room with a roommate. Bathroom facilities are shared by the residents of each wing. All rooms have phones and internet hookups. Residents need to purchase a meal plan to eat in any of the Resident Dining facilities.

International Community

A few students live in a unique site-the International House. Living quarters on 3 floors provide housing for 2 residents per room. The goal of the House is to foster intercultural understanding, so one American student rooms with an International student.

Residence Apartments

Many students are interested in the apartments, however, they are for upper class persons only: juniors, seniors, and graduate students. All apartments are fully furnished including wall to wall carpeting and mini-blinds. Each bedroom is designed for double occupancy, with one and two bedroom units housing two or four students. Apartments also include a full kitchen area with a microwave oven, sink, stove, and refrigerator. Meal plans are available for optional purchase through the dining hall.

Brandy says:

I have had the chance to live on campus and the main thing that I enjoyed was the convenience. No matter what time of day or night, I had two comuter labs at my disposal, the 24-hour lab in the library, and the Residential Computer Lab in Mary Park Hall. I also made quite a few lasting friendships while living on campus and attending the many Residential Community activities.

Next to the Residence Halls, SFSU maintains a fantastic child care center. Operated by Associated Students, Inc., participating students, faculty, and staff can drop off their children and go to their classes with peace of mind.

Joe says:

I have never lived in the residence community, but I have been so involved already that it seems like I've always lived here. I have had a little taste of what it is like here and its GREAT!! I would recommend to everyone, if you are able to live on campus, even if just for a semester or two, do so, you'll get a lot out of the college experience.
