Media Advisory: Hospitality industry leaders, guests gather for Taste of the Bay

WHAT:

Nearly 500 guests and hospitality industry leaders are expected at the St. Francis Yacht Club for San Francisco State's annual Taste of the Bay event. The evening supports scholarships for SF State's Hospitality and Tourism Management department – a program that has grown 185 percent since 2003, increasing the pool of qualified hotel, restaurant and event managers for an industry that brought $8.24 billion to San Francisco in 2007. The department maintains strong ties to the Bay Area hospitality industry. Industry leaders serve on the department's advisory board, providing valuable input for curriculum and connections for jobs and networking.

The student-run event will feature culinary creations and wines from nearly two dozen of the Bay Area's top restaurants and wineries. The evening will feature live entertainment as well as silent and live auctions.

WHO:

The event is organized by students in the Hospitality and Tourism Management Department at SF State.

WHEN:

6:30 – 9:30 p.m., Tuesday Oct. 28, 2008.

WHERE:

St. Francis Yacht Club, 700 Marina Boulevard, San Francisco.

INFO:

Media wishing to attend should RSVP to Michael Bruntz at (415) 338-1743 or mbruntz@sfsu.edu
