SF State moves up application deadlines for fall 2009

Interested applicants urged to apply early

SAN FRANCISCO, October 9, 2008 – San Francisco State University has set early application deadlines for fall 2009. The deadline for first-time freshmen is December 10, 2008, and the deadline for undergraduate transfer students is March 2, 2009.

The earlier deadlines are intended to help manage the number of applications. The March 2 deadline will affect students transferring from a community college or other institution who have completed 60 or more transferable units.

"The University is expecting to admit every qualified applicant," explained Jo Volkert, associate vice president of enrollment management. "The earlier deadline is a proactive measure by the University to manage the size of classes and to guarantee that it can deliver a full slate of services and courses needed to graduate."

Volkert encourages all prospective students to apply for admission well before the deadlines and to apply for housing immediately if they plan to live on campus.
