San Francisco, November 12, 2003 -- Get into the season with the enchanting holiday sounds of the SFSU Chamber Singers. Amid the glow of candles, conductor Joshua Habermann leads the vocalists in a diverse and ethereal program in the rich acoustics of St. Albert’s Priory in Oakland on Saturday, December 6, at 8 p.m.. A festive reception follows the performance.

In pieces ranging from serene Renaissance motets to rousing contemporary spirituals, this annual favorite showcases a cappella and accompanied arrangements and includes stunning solos. The program features works by Johannes Brahms, Roland de Lassus, Edward Fissinger, Kevin Oldham and local composer David Conte, along with a variety of traditional pieces heralding from around the globe.

The SFSU School of Music and Dance
San Francisco State University’s School of Music and Dance boasts such graduates as conductor Kent Nagano, jazz singer Wesla Whitfield and composer Paul Gemignani, who received the Tony Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001. An internationally recognized faculty directs students in both professional and liberal arts degree programs. Students also benefit under the instruction of SFSU’s renowned quartet-in-residence, the Alexander String Quartet, and artists-in-residence such as Branford Marsalis.
