Faculty, others will discuss how and when to relocate a relative with dementia
WHAT: An event targeted at caregivers who have family and friends suffering from dementia. With at least 2.8 million people nationwide living with some form of dementia and about 7 percent of adults in California battling some type of dementia-related brain impairment, caregivers and families need to know options for care and how to research long-term care facilities. "People want to be knowledgeable about the future and we want to help people be well informed," said Brian de Vries, director of the Gerontology Program at SFSU. "The program is a great resource and this is an opportunity to coordinate some of our information." To provide that information, the Gerontology Program will host "The Journey of Caring: Living with Dementia," a panel that features geriatric specialists discussing the nature and course of dementia, options for caregiving and the details of relocating a dementia patient from home to a care facility.

WHEN/WHERE: 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 29, at SFSU (19th and Holloway avenues) in the HSS Building, Room 135.
