WHAT:

The San Francisco State University Division of Information Technology presents its second annual IT Day, an opportunity for SFSU colleges and departments to show off their innovative uses of technology. In addition, more than 15 Bay Area technology companies will display products of interest to the academic community. There will be exhibits, job information, technology demonstrations, and a raffle every hour. The raffle features prizes donated by vendors, including a scanner, laptop computer and laptop case. IT Day sponsors include IBM, Apple, Sun and Cisco.

    Activities throughout the day include:
  • Grad students from the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences will demonstrate how a lie detector is used; volunteers will have a chance to see if they can beat the machine.
  • The Office of Risk Management will present an ergonomics assessment program. Participants will learn how to avoid painful computing by using healthy work habits and ergonomic equipment.
  • A showcase of the new options for using the SFSU OneCard (ID card), including using it for printing in computer labs, parking, vending machine use and more.
  • Comments from President Robert A. Corrigan at 11:50 a.m. on Malcolm X Plaza.
