Looking for a fresh perspective on the Oscars?

SAN FRANCISCO, February 14,

SFSU cinema expert Bill Nichols compares the Academy Awards to political party conventions. He can also offer comments and opinions on this year's nominees.

"There's something appealing about having a so-called body of experts vote for the Academy Awards," says Bill Nichols. "Like the political party conventions, it creates a forum for a larger public debate. Then people decide for themselves which films are truly the most meritorious."
