WHAT:

"Sexuality Education Opportunities for the New Century," a conference exploring contemporary issues in sexuality education for K-12 and college students, will be held Friday and Saturday at San Francisco State University. The conference, which is free and open to the public, will feature leading researchers, educators and public policy makers and will examine how the teaching of sexuality can be expanded across the curriculum. Workshop topics include trends in teaching abstinence-only cu rricula and how teaching issues of homosexuality can make schools safer for children.

• Dr. Ruth Westheimer, sexual literacy expert and world- famous author and radio show host

• Barbara Vanoss Marin, UC San Francisco, leading researcher on adolescent sexual risk-taking behavior

• John Elia, SFSU Human Sexuality Studies lecturer and conference co-organizer

• Diane di Mauro, director of sexuality education research, Social Science Research Council, New York

• Jeffrey Moran, author of the book "Teaching Sex";

  assistant professor of history, University of Kansas
