Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts
Emeritus Professor of Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts Herbert Zettl’s recent paintings are on display at the Community Media Center of Marin an exhibition that opened June 5 and which will run through June 30. Gallery hours are Tuesday - Thursday 2-9 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday noon to 6 p.m. The gallery is located at 810 A Street, San Rafael. Associate Professor of History Philip Dreyfus discussed his book, Our Better Nature: Environment and the Making of San Francisco, at two events in June as part of the San Francisco Public Library’s “Summer Read SF” program.
Labor Archives
The Labor Archives and Research Center has won the 2012 John Sessions Memorial Award from the Reference and User Services Association, recognizing the Labor Archives’ work preserving and promoting labor history.
Music and Dance
Music Lecturer John Calloway was presented the Jazz Hero award from the National Jazz Journalists Association on June 20 for his dedication and work with youth. Calloway founded the Afro-Cuban Ensemble and worked with the “Teatri Acoiris” theater group at SF State.
