Associate Professor of Cinema Julian Hoxter's book "The Pleasures of Structure: Learning Screenwriting Through Case Studies" was published by Bloomsbury. His third book on screenwriting, it is a sequel to his 2011 book "Write What You Don’t Know: An Accessible Manual for Screenwriters," which was adopted as a textbook by a number of film schools and was published in a Chinese-language edition. In 2014, Hoxter co-edited a scholarly collection on the history of screenwriting for the "Behind the Silver Screen" series from Rutgers University Press.
Assistant Professor of Cinema Tarek Elhaik discussed French-American artist Eric Baudelaire at the "Present Future of Emancipation" event held Feb. 21 at the Kadist Art Foundation in San Francisco. The event was co-sponsored by the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive.

Professor of Recreation, Parks & Tourism Patrick Tierney, Professor of Recreation, Parks & Tourism Erik Rosegard and Assistant Professor of Recreation, Parks & Tourism Jackson Wilson presented the paper "Connected Learning for Graduate Students: The Northern California Regional Recreation, Parks, & Tourism Graduate Collaboration" about their collaborative hybrid graduate program between SF State, CSU Chico and CSU Sacramento.
At the same conference, Wilson and Associate Professor of Recreation, Parks & Tourism Pavlina Latkova presented research on why Americans travel to Cuba.
