Professor of Biology Frank Bayliss participated in a National Science Foundation Google Hangout on Jan. 28 on the topic "Mentoring Matters to Success in STEM" as part of National Mentoring Month. Bayliss has previously been honored for his extensive work mentoring underrepresented groups in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Creative Writing
Chair and Professor of Creative Writing Maxine Chernoff's new book of poems, Here, was published by Counterpath Press. Chernoff will give readings in February and March at Bay Area bookstores. She will also read at the SF State Poetry Center on May 1 at 4:30 p.m.
Gerontology
The book, Long-Term Care Administration & Management: Effective Practices and Quality Programs in Eldercare, a comprehensive reference book for the effective administration and management of long-term care communities, was written and edited by Professor of Gerontology Darlene Yee-Melichar and Gerontology Lecturers Cristina Flores and Edwin Cabigao; it was published by Springer Publishing Company.
