Associate Professor of Apparel Design and Merchandising Connie Ulasewicz and Assistant Professor of Interior Design Gus Vouchilas coauthored and presented their research, "A Holistic View of Sustainability and Community Engagement in a Master's Program Culminating Experience," at the California Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, March 2 in San Diego, Calif.
Counseling
Associate Professor of Counseling Rebecca Toporek worked with the American Counseling Association and the Institute for Cultural Competence to organize the 2012 Social Justice Leadership Training Project, a half-day national conference on March 22. The event was attended by more than 100 participants and 16 SF State Counseling students assisted with registration, presentations and facilitation of groups
Design and Industry
Assistant Professor of Design and Industry Hsiao-Yun Chu was interviewed for a video installation that is part of "The Utopian Impulse: Buckminster Fuller and the Bay Area" exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Chu also helped the curator and filmmaker find some raw materials for the exhibit which runs through July 29.
Recreation, Parks and Tourism
Assistant Professor of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Jackson Wilson presented two studies at the California Parks and Recreation Society Southwest Institute in Long Beach, Calif., March 24-26: "Assessment of computer technology use during internship experience" (coauthored with Assistant Professor of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Pavlina Latkova and Associate Professor of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Erik Rosegard) and "Gender differences in outcomes for challenge course participants" (Wilson, J., 2012).
