Creative Arts
Vicki Anderson, creative arts technical service IT consultant, won the David Mamet Writing Contest held by American Conservatory Theater. MFA candidates at ACT performed a reading of Anderson’s winning play, “Oklaholeanna,” on Jan. 26. In “Oklaholeanna,” dueling characters John and Carol hawk their respective tell-all books on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Fine Arts
Gail Dawson, assistant professor of art, has a solo exhibition, “It's About Time,” at the San Marco Gallery at Dominican University in San Rafael from Feb. 7 to March 9. On Feb. 27, Dawson will give a talk at the gallery.

Music
New music ensemble Earplay performs “Diary of a Journey,” a mixed sextet composition by Richard Festinger, professor of music composition, Feb. 11 concert at Herbst Theatre in San Francisco.

“Retrospections,” a new compact disc by the Alexander String Quartet, the University's quartet in residence, was recently released by Foghorn Classics. The CD features compositions by Wayne Peterson, professor emeritus of music.
