Anthropology
Associate Professor of Anthropology James Quesada was honored with a Community Award for his contributions to the Mission Neighborhood Health Center at its 10-year anniversary celebration on Sept. 26.

Biology
Associate Professor of Biology Vance T. Vredenburg was named a Fellow of the California Academy of Sciences on Sept. 27 in recognition of his contributions to the field of biology. His current research focuses on the impacts of an emerging infectious amphibian disease, the phylogeography of amphibians and climate change impacts on aquatic food webs using stable isotopes. The formal induction ceremony will be held Oct. 9.

Health Education
Professor of Holistic Health Erik Peper presented the invited keynote address, "An evolutionary approach to return to health," on Sept. 21 at the 20th Annual Conference of the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research in Orlando, Florida. Peper also co-authored the article "Increase or decrease depression -- How body postures influence your energy level" in the journal Biofeedback (Vol. 40, No. 3).

Kinesiology
Professor of Kinesiology David Anderson was inducted as a Fellow into the National Academy of Kinesiology during a ceremony held Sept. 22 at the Academy's Annual conference in Portland, Ore. Anderson joins Professors of Kinesiology Steve Wallace and Susan Zieff in receiving this honor.

Professor of Kinesiology Mi-Sook Kim co-presented "Cultural Orientations and Exercise Behavior among College Students: The Examination of the Theory of Planned Behavior," at the Annual Conference of the Association of Applied Sport Psychology, Oct. 3-7 in Atlanta, Ga.
