Anthropology
Associate Professor of Anthropology James Quesada chaired the panel "Economic Migration and the (Un)Deserving Subject: Interrogating the Distinction between 'Voluntary' and 'Forced' Migration." Quesada was also a discussant on the panel "Constructed Borders and Barriers: Unpacking Undocumented Status and Structural Vulnerability" at the American Anthropological Association annual meeting in San Francisco on Nov. 14.

Design & Industry
Assistant Professor of Design and Industry Joshua Singer presented "Counter-Design and Counter-Consciousness: Alternative Design Methods" Nov. 2 at the Universities Art Association of Canada's 2012 conference at Concordia University in Montréal.

Health Education
Associate Professor of Health Education Vivian Chavez recently published an article about the documentary Cultural Humility: People, Principles & Practices, a 30-minute documentary that mixes poetry with music, interviews, archival footage and images of nature and dance to describe what cultural humility is and why it’s needed. The documentary is available at the electronic journal CES4Health.info

Kinesiology
Associate Professor of Kinesiology David Walsh's article "A TPSR-based Kinesiology Career Club for Youth in Underserved Communities" was published in the Spanish journal Agora for Physical Education and Sport, vol. 14, issue 1. Walsh, Assistant Professor of Kinesiology Maria Veri and a former graduate student co-authored the article, "Impact of the Kinesiology Career Club: A TPSR-based Possible Futures Program for Youth in Underserved Communities," which was published in vol. 14, issue 2 of the same publication.
